SDM 001 is designed to facilitate assisted transport and personal hygiene of disabled and elderly people in community healthcare environments. This chair can be used as a seat for showering the patient; it is equipped with a pail to serve as an independent WC or can be moved over WCs of the healthcare facility. Finally, it can be used as a comfortable room chair.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

FRAME<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The chair frame is entirely made of the best furniture grade PVC. The addition of titanium dioxide in the PVC compound results in a better appearance by giving it a UV-stable, glossy-white finish; it also enhances mechanical resistance and provides specific antibacterial properties.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Components are assembled using a PVC-base glue, resulting in a true chemical welding: once the parts are joined together, the frame becomes a single piece, extremely solid, rigid and sturdy.\r\nCompared to coated metal chairs, SDM 001 is not subject to rust, scratches, or dents.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

SEAT AND BACKREST<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Seat and backrest are made of comfortable and hypoallergenic PUR foam. This is a noticeable advantage over seats made of a padded upholstery. Even in case of wear and tear the closed-cell structure of PUR foam prevents water from penetrating the seat and backrest, thus avoiding mould growth.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Seat and backrest can be easily removed without tools; during the washing routine, the backrest can be temporarily removed to facilitate the caregiver\u2019s access to the patient\u2019s back.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

SAFETY BAR<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

To prevent the patient from tipping over while seated, SDM 001 provides a safety bar between the armrests. The locking mechanism is optimized for easy operation by the caregiver, while avoiding accidental release by the patient.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

DROP-DOWN ARMREST<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

To facilitate the patient transfer to and from the shower chair, SDM 001 features an optional drop-down armrest; it is specifically designed to avoid water ingress while showering and to minimize the risk of scratch- ing the patient\u2019s skin during transfer to and from the chair.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

FOOTREST<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The slide-out footrest is equipped with an anti-slip strip and is designed to prevent the chair from tipping over, even if the patient steps on it.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

SDM 001 offers optional height adjustment within a 9 cm range. This option allows to better fit the chair to tall or small patients and adjust it to different WC heights.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
